Wth schools out for the summer, it gives me a chance to enjoy highlights of the year so far, work on future projects – not least of which is the huge Wildlife Wonder Gloucestershire exhibition & Eco-Summit in September. And time to recharge!
Can’t believed that so far in 2016 I’ve led over fifty school Wildlife Wonder sessions, involving 5000 children in nature discovery. Always exploring the nature on our doorstep, we safari in school grounds or walk to nearby wild places in search of water voles, rare butterflies, orchids or inquisitive cygnets.
Using cameras to explore, the observational journey by children is as valuable as the photographs they produce. Slowing down, revealing unseen wonder and discovering detail, the camera is an aid to visual study.
A huge thank you to all the schools I’ve worked with so far – the children for being so inspiring, observant & creative and the teachers for making it happen. And to Gloucestershire, Avon, Somerset, Dorset & London Wildlife Trusts, 30DaysWild, Museum in The Park. Enjoy your summer and I look forward to so much more school Wildlife Wonder in September.
