Inspiring children to discover the natural world and explore their own creativity

WHAT IS A SCHOOL WONDER DAY?

A photo safari through your grounds to discover the wild side of school for art or science, exploring the local community, or journeying beyond into the tiger jungles of India to inspire creative writing! Drawing on my experiences as a professional wildlife photographer & author and extensive experience of working with schools, Wonder Days are tailored to suit your curriculum, inspirational need, age range and season. Perfect to launch a themed week or topic, as a stimulus for writing, Wildlife Wonder Days can be used to develop observational skills, discover communication, perform the lion king or simply to support learning outside the classroom. The natural world offers so much potential for inspirational learning and personal growth. Whatever the focus, I will work with you to develop an educational and memorable wildlife wonder day.

How Do They Work?

Each day is tailored to suit, but typically begins with a Wildlife Wonder assembly. Through the day I work with pupils to observe and explore their natural environment, discovering colours and composition or species and behaviour. Sometimes we work inside, but most days involve learning outside the classroom – pupils exploring the school grounds (or maybe beyond) often using cameras to record sightings or practice the observational skills they have learnt.

Whether your grounds are tarmac or green field, we will find nature.   Working with your pupils and grounds – I bring camera equipment and expertise.   On-site or within walking distance so no extra travel / coach costs.

I have a full DBS check and annual Safeguarding training

TestimonialS

‘Iain enthused and motivated the pupils from Reception to Yr6. Without exception the children remained engaged and on task throughout his sessions and we have been so impressed by both the children’s observational skills and the quality of the photographs produced. I would thoroughly recommend a session from Iain for any school, either to kick start a specific nature topic or to add creativity to your curriculum.’ Head, Staunton & Corse Primary School, January 2016

Further Details & Booking

Practicalities Following our initial conversation, I will confirm content & timetable for the session.  I will bring a set of appropriate cameras for use by pupils
After the session all images will be downloaded and supplied on disc – including an edited selection of images ready for follow-up classroom use, school display or for artwork.

Parent & pupil photography (after-school) sessions are an enjoyable and popular way of involving parents in school projects. Some schools offer this free to parents, others make a small charge – from experience, they are normally over-subscribed.

Teacher training sessions after-school or Inset, for team-building, using photography within school, development of your outdoor classroom or natural history in the curriculum

Artwork to adorn the school walls, I can turn your pupils’ work into permanent masterpieces. Or maybe create cards, school calendar or a book for sale to parents.
